Open Letter to North Andover Voters

From Rick Nardella - Selectman

As one of your current Selectmen, I am proud of the many initiatives the current Board has undertaken to maintain services and to ensure public safety. The current Board does not shy away from controversial topics and is not afraid to engage in difficult negotiations and discussions.

Professionally I am an auditor/accountant specializing in internal control, compliance, policies and procedures. What better place to apply those skills than Municipal Government!  I have been serving North Andover for 21 consecutive years, eighteen as a member of the Planning Board and three as Selectman. I am currently chairing the North Andover Audit Committee and the North Andover Facilities Master Plan Committee. I am also the Selectmen’s representative to the route 125 Sewer Committee that is attempting to bring sewer and commercial development to the lower part of route 125 moving into Haverhill.

Providing the town with three years of consensus budgets, no layoffs, no overrides and sound financial management, the current Board has lived within its revenue and expense targets and has made tough decisions. The next three years will be even more challenging. The town’s share of State revenue continues to decline…Expenses continue to climb…

The next Board will be faced with even tougher decisions. They will not have the opportunity to placate interest groups, avoid votes and put off today’s problems until tomorrow. Tomorrow is here today! The intricacies of running Municipal government have escalated dramatically. One has to remain focused on opportunities such as renegotiating and consolidating bonds at more favorable interest rates, negotiating a fairer share of employee contributions to health care, planning for the use of idle assets. (Bradstreet School, old police station) and changing the way we conduct our day to day business.

Please consider Rick Nardella as one of your two votes for Selectmen on March 29th.

VOTE - RICK NARDELLA for SELECTMAN  March 29th

Rick Nardella and his wife Mary reside on Haymeadow Road where they raised their three daughters, all graduates of North Andover public schools.  The eldest, Alanna is working as a Health Services Manager for a national managed care company, while his middle daughter Elizabeth is an Regional Sales Manager for a high tech firm and his youngest; Kimberly is a first grade teacher and resides in North Andover.  Their children attended the Kittredge and Franklin, elementary schools, the Middle School and the High School.  "Mary and I both appreciated the education our children received. I know that quality communities have quality schools.  As a Selectmen, the best thing I can do for the North Andover schools is help solve our current financial crisis by increasing planned commercial development and narrowing the gap between our revenue and expenses.  This will benefit all town services and help us recruit a top-notch Superintendent of Schools," stated Nardella.
